Cause week is coming up and it is coming up fast! Starting on Monday, April 15th and will be going on until Friday, April 19th filled with an entire week of celebration and supporting a worthy cause. If you don’t know, Cause week is a week of activities that the Putnam Leadership classes, and the Kingsman Council organizes to raise donations and awareness for Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. Doernbecher is the pediatric care unit of OHSU, and they perform admiral work. They specialize in pediatric bone marrow/ stem cell transplants, pediatric epilepsy surgery, Phase I clinical trials for new pediatric cancer therapies, comprehensive care for infants, children and adolescents with brain tumors, pediatric hemophilia services and pediatric renal transplants. Every single day the doctors and nurses of Doernbecher Children’s Hospital save lives and they deserve recognition and donations to help save more lives.
Coming to Cause week events not only raises awareness for Doernbecher, but also increases a sense of community at Putnam. Leadership teacher Ally Benson says that: “the entire student body is encouraged to participate in the various events of Cause week.” The events that will raise donations for Doernbecher are as follows: Kickball on Monday 4/15 at 6:30, Buff Puff on Tuesday 4/16 at 6:30, Powderpuff on Wednesday 4/17 at 6:30 and last, but not least the Kingsman Carnival on Friday 4/19 between 5:00pm and 8:00pm. The Kingsman Carnival is a community event with carnival games, a barbeque, cotton candy, snow cones, obstacle courses, prizes, and so much more!
Putnam has been doing Cause Week for over 20 years and the Kingsman Carnival was added five years ago. So, go and sign up for Kickball, BuffPuff and PowerPuff during Cause Week to support Doernbecher Children’s Hospital and have some Putnam community spirit!
