Oregon Governor Visits Sabin-Schellenberg Professional Center

Oregon Governor Kate Brown spent nearly an hour visiting the Sabin campus of SSC Monday.   She talked with students from the Fire Science, Manufacturing, and Broadcasting and Social Media programs as she toured the programs on the North Campus.  Brown, who has talked about securing additional state funding for CTE, announced she will be lobbying for additional funding devoted to career and technical education in Oregon that fully funds what voters earlier approved with Measure 98 in 2017.

The Governor spent time talking with several students in the Fire Science program regarding their plans after high school and what they have been learning in the program.  The Manufacturing program was also a focus for the Governor who was looking at an area that promises high wage high demand jobs for those with training.  Brown also had the opportunity to chat with one of the anchors of KNCB Television, Jake Bushman, regarding his work in the broadcasting program.

Brown was joined by Senator Rod Monroe and Representative Mark Meek.  NCSD Board Chair Rein Vaga and Vice Chair Steven Schoedel also toured along with Superintendent Matt Utterback and Sabin-Schellenberg Administrator Karen Phillips.
