The President Visits Oregon
President Joe Biden spent most of his afternoon on Thursday in Portland talking about the Infrastructure legislation. The Senate passed the bipartisan infrastructure bill in August 2021. Now, it’s known as the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. However, for the bill to be enacted, it would have to get passed by the House and then ratified by President Biden. Air Force One touched down at the Portland Airport shortly before 1 pm, Biden got a tour of the construction underway at PDX and spoke with a crowd of supporters and reporters before getting into his motorcade that arrived at the Portland Yacht Club.
Inside there was a gathering of the Oregon Congressional Delegation, Oregon Governor Kate Brown, Secretary of State Shemia Fagan, and other democrats. Biden spoke for about 25 minutes on topics from the economy, legislation currently under consideration, and the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
Biden took off to head back to the airport, passing about 30 protestors standing outside the Yacht Club entrance, on his way to Seattle for another fundraiser for Democratic candidates.
