NCSD School Board Candidates – Paul Kemp

This election season, the candidates for the North Clackamas School Board have separated into two groups; politically, one is left-leaning while the other holds right and far-right standpoints. On the left-leaning side is Paul Kemp, a significant campaigner for stricter gun safety laws that do not take away the freedom of gun ownership as well. He is the president of the organization known as Gun Owners for Responsible Ownership, a group that reflects these values well.

As somebody with over ten years of experience working with gun safety, use, and control, Kemp plans to focus much of his work on the safety of students and staff if he is elected. Alongside this, he has made claims to do what he can to see from student and teacher perspectives as well as that of himself and his potential coworkers. In an interview with Compass reporters, he stated, “My daughter’s a teacher, I have a lot of friends who are teachers, ya know; I understand some of the issues facing schools and their students and teachers today, and I wanna do what I can to help improve the situation and advocate for the students. Every student in school.”

Kemp is endorsed by Planned Parenthood, the Democratic Party of Clackamas County, the North Clackamas Education Association, the Oregon Education Association, Moms Demand Action, and many individuals with significant experience in teaching or caregiving positions.
