Since the start of the new school year, football games have been in full swing. Week after week teams go up against each other to pull out a win, but for Nick Bocchetti that looks a little different. Nick, a Junior, Spent his freshman and sophomore years at Oregon City High School. He chose to transfer to Clackamas for his junior year. This means new teammates, new coaches, and new everything. When being asked why he transferred Nick said “There were a lot of difficulties with me learning and there was kind of a gap and I wasn’t as motivated to go there. So I transferred to Clackamas High School to have a new beginning”. Entering a new school he has some goals for the year and he said this about one of them “I’d like to maintain at least a 3.5 or better GPA because I feel like that’d be a good setting point or stepping stone because then I can open more opportunities for myself”. Being a student athlete this seems like a pretty good goal. As far as a football goal he said “Definitely the big one would be to win a state title. We haven’t won since 2017”. He plans to stay at Clackamas for the next two years.
Nick started playing in 7th grade when his parents decided he was big enough to play. He went on to say “I watched a football documentary about Pat Tillman and he made me want to because he was just an all around great guy. Nick previously lived in Oregon City for 16 years up until now. He still has relationships with friends and teammates from Oregon City saying they still watch Sunday football together at one of their houses commenting “Just kind of by tradition. We still keep going”. Nick has some pretty interesting hobbies. He went on to say “I like to work on my pressure washing company”. He started this business earlier this year with his first job being in may.
Along with football he also ran track at Oregon City and plans to continue at Clackamas. Nick’s jersey number this year is number 6 and there’s a story as to why. “I chose number 6 because my friend Marcus on my old team, he was number 6. We always had a tradition of eating a banana before every game. So I wanted to honor him with the number 6 for the last few years of high school”. There’s so much family in the world of football and life long friendships. Nick still eats bananas and will send his former teammate, Marcus, a picture to keep the tradition alive. Nick’s plans for the future are up in the air. He says if the opportunity to continue to play at the college level he will most likely take it. If not he plans to continue his pressure washing company. Nick has a lot to look forward to this season and this year. Only time will tell.
